The best home gym equipment for a Loghouse eco garden room will allow you to work out in the comfort of your own home. With everything that is going on in the world right now, it’s more important than ever to remain fit and healthy. The COVID pandemic has shown that the fitter you are to begin with, the better – but due to restrictions and rules that have been put in place, going to a gym has become a less attractive proposition.

While the transmission mechanisms of the COVID virus are still not fully understood, it is clear that by limiting the number of people you come into contact with – and anything they have touched – will minimize the chances of contracting the disease. For this reason alone, a home gym log cabin or eco garden room is a great choice for staying fit and healthy.

What is an Eco Garden Room?

An Eco Garden Room is a structure that can be built in your back garden and is designed to offer all the comforts of your main home but in an ecologically friendly manner. They are capable of housing a range of activities including providing home office space, room for hobbies and activities, and also make excellent gyms.

The eco-garden rooms from Loghouse are constructed from SIPs – Structure Insulated Panels – that are lightweight and hardwearing panels. They include full insulation to keep the room warm in winter and cool in summer.

Each eco garden room includes UPVC double glazed windows and doors, and electricity and plumbing can be added as an option. The only thing left to do is to choose the best home gym equipment for an eco garden room that measures 4m x 4m.

Create the Ultimate Gym at Home

You may be starting from nothing, or you may have a few pieces of exercise equipment already scattered around your home. There may be a set of weights in the bedroom (that constantly get in the way) or an exercise bike in the garage (a room that is as unwelcoming as it is cold). In most cases, there is no dedicated space set aside in your home to help with your fitness, and even if there is, it is to the detriment of everyday life.

Gym equipment can be large and bulky, and it is difficult to dedicate the space to a full range of equipment that will keep you in good shape. An eco-garden room or garden log cabin provides the ideal space for setting up a gym designed to your own personal requirements – and it can remain set up all year round.

Finding the best home gym equipment for an eco garden room will be determined by three main factors – your goals, your budget, and the space available.

Your “ultimate gym” may not be the same as anyone else’s. For example, a powerlifter will have different requirements for a marathon runner. If you haven’t already started your fitness journey, you will need to decide what you want to achieve – if it is to simply improve your overall level of fitness, a combination of cardio and resistance training will be the best choice.

If you want to increase your physical strength, weights and resistance equipment will be the order of the day. However, if you’re looking to lose weight and/or improve your energy levels, increased cardio equipment can help.

It’s always best to consult with your doctor before embarking on a new fitness programme, but once you know that there will be no issues with increasing your exercise level, you can start planning your new home gym.

The Best Garden Room Gym Equipment to Stay Fit

With rooms that start at 4m x 4m and go up to 6m x 4m as standard sizes, you may be wondering what equipment you can fit in an eco garden room or Log Cabin home gym. Cardio equipment (such as cross trainers, walking machines/treadmills, rowing machines, etc) can be up to 2m in length and 1m wide. At a push, you may be able to fit 5 of these machines in your home gym (4m x 4m), but most people will require less.

Resistance and weight machines will often be a similar size, and possibly larger. The most sensible option is to check with the manufacturer on the exact size, and always remember to leave enough space around each machine for it to be operated.

Exercise benches and weightlifting equipment can vary in size, and it is always wise to leave an open space in your home gym for warming up and stretching after exercise. You can even dedicate an area to yoga, should you so desire.

To get the best overall workout, you may want to choose a selection from the following pieces of equipment:

Treadmill – go for a run or a jog without leaving home. Most will come with adjustments to make the exercise harder, such as adjustments to the angle of the running platform. The most advanced treadmills include screens that allow you to virtually run through different environments with the platform automatically adjusting as you progress to simulate hills.

Cross-Trainer – a cardio and calorie burning monster. You’ll work out your arms and legs while running in place on a cross-trainer, making it one of the most effective pieces of gym equipment.

Bench and Weights – excellent for strength training and occupying a comparatively small amount of space, an exercise bench matched with a barbell and a set of dumbbells can help you get fit quickly. The alternative is to choose a range of machines such as you would find in a professional gym (chest press machine, chest flye machines, lat pull-down machines, etc) which will use more space and add extra cost to your home gym. A further machine to consider is a leg press machine, but you can work the same muscles with a barbell while performing squats.

Cable Workout Station – one of the larger pieces of equipment in a gym, a home cable workout station can exceed two metres wide and high, with a depth of between 50cm and 1m. They look like a large metal arch with an assortment of weights and cables attached, and they can be used to exercise almost any part of the body. They can appear intimidating, but when you appreciate the full range of exercises that can be performed, they make a great choice.

Whatever you choose, you’ll be able to create a home gym that matches your needs and goals perfectly. For another great Garden Room Idea – check out our latest Blog Post: Garden Hobby Room – Escape the Stress of COVID Life
